Take one of the following pathways to add the endorsement that must be completed in the equivalent of one full-time academic year: Complete an endorsement test only.
Complete an add-on endorsement program at a college or university and test. Attend an educator preparation program , approved by WSAC, to participate in state financial aid.
Check with the college or university or contact WSAC directly to find out if the program is approved. Enroll in an eligible Washington state college or university. Armed forces or members of the National Guard who meet the Minimum Qualifications. Service Obligation Service Obligation — Educator Retooling Conditional Scholarship To avoid repaying the conditional scholarship, participants must fulfill these service obligation requirements: Teach in a Washington State K public common school after earning the add-on endorsement.
Participants who do not fulfill their teach obligation will have to repay the award, with interest and other fees. Details will be in the participant's promissory note. Provide documentation from their school district of one year of successful student interaction and leadership as a classified instructional employee or completion of two years of a Recruiting Washington Teachers program.
Intend to pursue an initial teacher certificate with an endorsement in a shortage area via an approved teacher program. Schools are responsible for: Submitting nominations for a notebook provision for their staff under each Program tranche. The Department will advise eligible schools when the nomination period commences and closes.
Schools must submit their nominations by the deadline specified. Maintaining Program-provisioned notebooks in good working order, over the full 48 month life cycle, making use of the supplied warranty and insurance.
Returning all Program-provisioned notebooks at the end of life or when requested by the Program. Retaining notebooks from teachers who no longer work at the school and reallocating to other eligible teaching staff.
Appointing a School Notebook Coordinator to act as the single point of contact between the school and the Program, at all times. In addition to the above, where a school-provisioned option is the chosen platform, the school is responsible for: Submitting the required application form to the Program, with school council endorsement.
